Richmond Code Camp 4
I will be presenting at the Richmond Code Camp on October 6th, that is next Saturday. Andy Leonard has a great .NET and SQL Server day planned for everyone. I know my local friends Sue Googe and Josh Carlisle will be presenting with me next week. Sue is really good at user interface development and Josh is a SharePoint expert.
One of my presentations will be on using httpModules and httpHandlers. I will show some practical examples of using both. I will demonstrate how to set up a basic IP blocker httpModule, how to initiate a background worker thread in an ASP.NET application. The segway will be showing how to implement basic URL Rewriting in ASP.NET. For httpHandlers I will be showing how to stream a dynamic vCard based on a dynamic URL and streaming PDFs to the browser.
My second presentation will be on CardSpace and OpenId as they relate to ASP.NET. Both are great concepts, but I am not seeing the acceptance of either technology to help users authenticate themselves. I hope to show how to implement each technology in an ASP.NET web site as well as show the true reasons why we need to start supporting one or both in every site we have.
If you are in the Northern Virginia, Blue Ridge Mountains, Tidewater area or Eastern North Carolina you should really try to attend. The camp will be held at the Glen Allen ECPI campus, which is very easy to get to from Interstate 64.
